Installation Guide

This page provides a step-by-step guide to installing GeneQuick, from downloading and initial startup to the free trial, license activation after purchase, and migration to another PC.

Full Flow from Installation to First Use

STEP 1Download

For macOS

Open the .dmg file and drag the GeneQuick app into the Applications folder.

Run the Windows installer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

[About Installing the Windows Version]
During installation, you may see a message from Microsoft Defender SmartScreen stating, "Windows protected your PC." This message does not necessarily mean that the application is unsafe. It may appear for new applications that do not yet have a sufficient reputation on Windows.
If this warning appears, you can proceed as follows:
1. Click "More info".
2. Click "Run anyway".
3. Then follow the on-screen instructions to continue the installation.

STEP 2First Launch

On Mac, you may need to open the app from Finder the first time only. On Windows, the app usually launches normally after installation.

Open Finder
Select “Go” → “Applications”
Select the GeneQuick app
Control-click or right-click
Select “Open”

STEP 3Start the 14-Day Free Trial

The first time you launch the app, your 14-day free trial begins automatically. During the trial, you can test all features, making it a good way to confirm compatibility with your lab data and workflow.

STEP 4Purchase

Purchase from the “Buy” button at the bottom right of the app or from the purchase link on the website by entering your organization, name, email address, and other required information. After purchase, your license number will be sent to your registered email address.

The license number is sent by email

STEP 5Activation

After purchase, click the “Activate” button at the bottom right of the app, or choose “Activate” from the “Settings” menu to authenticate your license.

What to enter:

The email address used when purchasing / the license number shown in your purchase email

After authentication:

The free trial notice disappears, and you can continue using the app as the full version.

STEP 6Migrate When Needed

The Standard License can be used on up to 2 PCs, and the Student License on 1 PC. If you want to move to another PC, deactivate the license on the current PC first.

Select Settings → Deactivation (This PC)
Click OK on the confirmation screen
If deactivation is impossible due to hardware failure, contact support

Frequently Asked Questions

The Standard License can be used on up to 2 PCs, while the Student License can be used on 1 PC. Be sure to clearly show pricing and eligibility conditions in your purchase flow.

After purchase, the license number will be sent to your registered email address. Use that number to activate the app.
